About Silkweeds

Silkweeds has been in business over 20 years now. Lisa Sanborn-Gray & her husband Bill bought the store in September of 2004. Julie Mattison and Christine Sherman, the prior owners of Silkweeds decided to embark on a new journey with yet another business and their biggest love yet (Searsport Rug Hooking) just two miles north, right here in Searsport.

Lisa, not wanting to lose the charm that Silkweeds has always had, but wanting to put her own signature on the Silkweeds name, still offers a wide array of gifts & home decor items.

Everything from Country Curtains, Braided Rugs, Reproduction Furniture, Linens, Twig Wreaths, Yankee Candles, Framed Prints, Lamps & Shades, Candle Accessories, Berry Garlands, Lang Calendars & Wooden Calendar Holders, Maine Town Signs, Ragamuffin Rabbits & Moose, Gourmet Foods, Quilts, Year Round Christmas Shop, and of course their World Famous Fudge plus so much more........

Silkweeds has a loyal following of customers from all over the state who make as many as six to eight visits a year from places as far away as Fort Kent and York. The store has a mail-ing list of 2,500 patrons and contacts more than 1,000 customers by e-mail. Gray said the store’s unique cluster of rooms makes people feel comfortable and puts them in the frame of mind for having fun.

“For us, it’s a state of mind,” she said. “Most people say Silkweeds is charming. You come in here, there are all these nooks and crannies. There is something around every corner. I have relationships with a lot of my custom-ers. You get to know all the in-state ones and they tend to become your friends.”

With over 7000 square feet of selling space, people enjoy the variety, and the "down home" country atmosphere, shopping at their own pace in each of the 12 rooms, filled with all the wonderful surprises that only Silkweeds holds for them. Things here change so often that it is hard to go a week without visiting the shop because you just might miss that one thing you can't live without.
